Has anyone else been following the response to this article? I can only say that I am really dissapointed in some people.

Here are a few of the comments people made on Issa's article that left a bad taste in my mouth...

I think if you can't structure an argument, you shouldn't be disagreeing with anybody.

Actually, I'm hoping this is a joke.

this article is someone's opinion. and i think that everybody should be respected for speaking up their opinion even if you may disagree with it. using words like dumb and that the girls in the scenes are more or less whores are fucking stupid. it makes me sick.

We always complain how no one respects our opinions, and yet we give no respect to anyone else's. Everyone was so quick to read that article and jump on the "if you dont wanna get hit, get out of the pit." bandwagon. Very few people took time to make an articulate reply. Some of the most intelligent people i know are in the hardcore genre, and this is how we show a response?

Reading the responses has been very interesting. I think we can all safely ignore the responses from people who are blatant jackasses. I am much more concerned with the otherwise intelligent, forward thinking people who think that violence isn't ok, but see it as just "how things are". I think these people need to get in touch with their ability to reach out into the real world and create changes. That is what all those classic HC songs are about. Make a change. Take a stand. Hold your ground.

i think a big portion of the hardcore scene has become obsessed with intimidation. whether its with weapons or crews, people are all about being tougher than everyone else; the FSU shooting is a prime example of everything that is wrong with hardcore today.

there is nothing wrong with dancing in the pit, but some people take it too far. when these people realize that they are the reason for show cancellations and the diminishing number of kids that come out to shows and get down, hopefully they will change.

its like a civil war - hardcore fans are victimizing their own scene, and they're slowly destroying what they claim to stand for.
