In a recent interview with DIY Conspiracy, No Way, a teenage straight edge band from Den Bosch, Netherlands, discusses their journey in reviving the raw energy of early ’80s hardcore punk. Formed in 2021, the band members, now aged 15-16, have already released a five-song EP on Refuse Records and a split 7-inch with Seein’ Red. Drawing inspiration from bands like Minor Threat and Youth of Today, No Way emphasizes the importance of live shows and genuine engagement over digital consumption. They express concern about the impact of social media on the hardcore scene, noting that platforms like TikTok can dilute the message and reduce music to mere ‘content.’ The band advocates for being present in the moment and creating lasting memories through live performances. With guitarist Jorda now taking on vocal duties, No Way continues to champion the DIY ethos and the authentic spirit of hardcore punk.
