Social Media: Instagram: feijoa08

Tell us about you? What do you do for a living? Do you have any pets, hobbies, pet projects?
I study in a circus and theatre professional school, in the school, I do trapeze, contortion and many other things. I love nature, and I love outdoor sports like climbing, running canyoning, calisthenics, etc And the best thing for me is to do some of these things with someone that I love.

Favorite straight edge (or non-straight edge) bands?
I really like gorilla biscuits and 7 seconds.

What is your definition of straight edge?
For me, straight edge is people that enjoy having fun without smoking, drinking or having sex.

Where do you see the straight edge scene today?
The only person that I know that is straight edge is my dad 🙂 All my friends drink and smoke I would love to meet more people that is straight edge.

There’s an ongoing debate on whether one can be straight edge without being a part of the music scene, what are your thoughts on this?
I’m not a part of the music scene so I would say that you can be straight edge without that.

What are some funny/common misconceptions people have about you being straight edge?
That you are scared of drinking etc That you are still a kid That you never have fun (•‿•)

What are some challenges you have faced when interacting with other people who are also edge? If you haven’t had any challenges, tell us some challenges you’ve faced when interacting with people who are not edge?
I’ve never had challenges with straight edge people The only challenges I had with non-edge people is that they say “What you do is very good but someday it will change”

Is your diet influenced or informed by your choice to be straight edge i.e. organic, antibiotic infused meat, genetically modified foods, vegan, vegetarian?
I am vegetarian, And I also try not to eat a lot of milk, sugar, and gluten because its better for training. I just say that being vegetarian or vegan we have to be pretty careful to eat all the things that are important for our body.

What’s your straight edge story? Was there a key moment that made you realize straight edge is the way you want to live your life? How old were you? How did you find out about straight edge, was there someone in the community that introduced you, or were you introduced to it through people/bands, etc? What drew you to it?
As I said before I started being straight edge and vegetarian because of my dad. When he was young he used to play in a few bands and he has been straight edge till now… So I’ve always had that example. I realized I wanted to be straight edge a year or to ago… So when I was 14 years old. Before that I used to drink a bit but it was very disgusting The only thing that I like is mojito, and I can have it without alcohol, so I’m happy hahaah

Define what straight edge means to you? Has this changed over the years?
The only reason I don’t drink or smoke is that I find it disgusting. So for me, it’s a way to tell people “yeah no thank you I never drink” And I really like the idea of being a group of people that agree with that.

Do you consider yourself an activist? What is/are your cause(s), and how have you been working to advance them?I am an artist, and I consider myself an artivist because I want to transmit the things that I defend with art. I’ve never done big things in activism But I do all I can to be eco-friendly.

What, if anything, keeps you committed to the straight edge lifestyle?
The example that I have at home. And apart from drinking and smoking, I think that straight edge helps not to have toxic relationships, and I really like that.

What is something you didn’t think you would struggle with by claiming edge?
Sometimes I wish I could be “normal” And have a “normal” group of friends And have a “normal life”

What you do for stress relief instead of drinking/drugs, tips for peer pressure
Sometimes I train (there is nothing better than training like crazy when you are stressed) Meet with friends (friends for me are a very important part of my life, and each time I have a problem I just spend time with them to feel good again)

Have you ever considered breaking edge? What were the circumstances, and what changed your mind?
Sometimes I’m just like “yeah I could drink a little something” but then I try it and its very disgusting.

If you are in a relationship is your partner straight edge, or have you had a previous relationship with someone who was not straight edge? What, if any, challenges have you faced relating to your lifestyle/choice?

I’m not in a relationship right now but I used to “be” with a non straight edge guy, He was very toxic and just talked about sex… And that made me feel very bad. So I dumped him 🙂

Has your family and social life been negatively or positively impacted? Have you faced or are you facing any specific challenges because of your lifestyle choices? If your family/friends are unsupportive, how do you deal?
It ‘s pretty hard to be vegetarian and training a lot because if you don’t take care of yourself you don’t have enough energy to work out. And my friends are not a problem with that, At parties, I just dance all night and I don’t need to drink for that.

If you are single, have you found it difficult to date?
Nope, I’ve never been drunk so I don’t know the difference.

How do you explain your lifestyle to others outside of the scene? Do you find it difficult? What’s your elevator pitch?

I tell them I don’t drink and don’t smoke.

Straight edge and the associated music scene have long been male-dominated. What do you see as a woman/girls role in the scene? How has this role changed since you have been involved and what changes would you like to see?
I love to see girls singing because you don’t see many of them
