Finally, a traditional American heavy metal movement headed by Richmond, Virginia residents, Lamb of God to swiftly kick “nu-metal’s” ass out of here, hopefully never to return again.
We all know that the life of American Metal has certainly had its up’s and downs (i.e. the hair bands of the 80’s, the grunge of the 90’s) but someone always comes around at a low point to take things into their own hands and claim metal as our own again.
Lamb of God is nothing you can sit in the back seat of your car and make out to (not unless you plan on doing a lot of biting), and it’s not anything you’ll hear in heavy rotation on the radio waves. It is straight up, in your face, no apologies, Southern Metal, sure to satisfy the die hard fan’s of American Metal legends, Pantera.
This is Lamb of God’s third full length release, and first release on major label Sony Records. As that would normally be a major indication of a sell out, you won’t be seeing Lamb of God action figures anytime soon either. Lamb of God have graciously taken on a mainstream record label and have managed to maintain their continued level of dignity.
Singer Randall Blythe’s inhuman and well controlled vocal style coupled with smart and passionate lyrics are a perfect match for fast riffs that are pure metal. Lamb of God will surely make you proud to live in the birthplace of Metal. And let’s not let things slip again, okay guys? Limp Bizkit and Nickelback are not metal. This is metal. “Pure American Metal”.
